One of the most iconic artists of the Twentieth Century, Pablo Picasso was introduced to ceramics in his mid sixties, and instantly immersed himself in the medium. Working of the Madoura Pottery in Southern France, he was given free rein to design as the mood struck him. Although known his paintings, sculptures, and graphics, the Spanish artist spent 25 years near the end of his life developing these ceramic pieces that speak to his imagination, wit, and quest for new and innovative ways to weave beauty and utility into a harmonious fabric. This exhibit is thanks to the Rosenbaum Collection.
