Former UTA Professor Jim Campbell Quick and his wife Sheri have pledged a significant unrestricted gift in support of The University of Texas at Arlington’s athletic department.

The Quicks’ gift will provide critical support for UTA Athletics, helping drive the success of UTA’s student-athletes by offsetting the cost of important resources such as tuition, tutoring, nutrition, sports equipment and more.

“Sheri and I want to invest in UTA Athletics because of the success of athletics,” Quick said of the gift. “Athletics is one mark of an outstanding national university.”

Quick, a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel, has won several awards throughout his illustrious professorial career, including the 2016 Regents’ Outstanding Teacher Award, 2016 Professor of the Year Medallion, Beta Gamma Sigma, a 2001 Presidential Citation from the American Psychological Association and many more. He was previously the John and Judy Goolsby-Jacqualyn A. Fouse Endowed Chair in UTA’s Goolsby Leadership Academy and a Distinguished Teaching Professor in the College of Business.

“We truly appreciate the Quicks’ impactful gift and unwavering support of UTA Athletics,” said Jon Fagg, UTA Athletics Director. “Jim and Sheri have a deep history with UTA, and this further illustrates their commitment to helping elevate our department and student-athletes to the next level.”

The Quicks are members of the President’s Club of Colgate University, the Ashbel Smith Circle and Chancellor’s Council of The University of Texas System, and UTA’s Carlisle Society and 1895 Society. Jim is past president of the Arlington Great Southwest Rotary Club, where he and Sheri are Paul Harris Fellows.
