The DFW-Arlington metro earned the No. 1 Tech Hub ranking in Site Selection Magazine’s second annual North American Tech Hubs Index, overtaking Washington, D.C. who now holds the No. 2 ranking. Atlanta, Chicago and Bay Area regions round out the top five.
Arlington is home to innovative tech companies like Sportec Solutions, developing next-gen solutions in soccer match data and officiating technology, electric vehicle charging manufacturer Wallbox, Salcomp, a Finland-based electronics manufacturing company and satellite manufacturer E-Space, among others.
Editor in Chief Adam Bruns explains the idea behind the Tech Hub ranking: “To draw a bead on where the hottest tech hubs are located, marry the most granular tech infrastructure data (internet exchanges, dark fiber, undersea cable connectivity, etc.) with tech talent metrics and with corporate facility project numbers from tech-aligned industry sectors such as software development, data centers and telecommunications.”
Texas also received the most votes for Best Business Climate in America in Site Selection’s January issue, based on a survey of 30 of the country’s leading national site consultants. The data was collected from Conway Projects Database, TeleGeography, CBRE and CompTIA.
