For more than four decades, the Quilters’ Guild of Arlington has combined creativity, tradition, and service. Now, the Guild is helping commemorate Arlington’s 150th anniversary through “Stitching Our History Together,” an original textile artwork created to celebrate the city’s history and community. The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation approached the Guild to design the commemorative quilt, and work began in January 2026. Measuring 96 by 108 inches, the finished piece includes more than 100 star blocks created by 65 members and represents more than 150 hours of design, construction, and quilting. Official photographs of Arlington landmarks were incorporated alongside the authorized Arlington 150 logo, creating a visual timeline of the city.

Two large panels highlight the Entertainment District and Downtown Arlington. Featured landmarks include the National Medal of Honor Museum, AT&T Stadium, Six Flags Over Texas, Globe Life Field, The Dream Sculpture, Levitt Pavilion, the University of Texas at Arlington, and the historic Arlington Mineral Well Fountain. Other blocks recognize the Arlington Museum of Art, International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame, General Motors, Arlington Downs, Lake Arlington and the Unity Sculpture. Before its official presentation, the quilt was exhibited at the North Texas Quilt Festival, where it received two awards of excellence. It will be unveiled Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 6 p.m. in the City Hall lobby at 101 W. Abram Street. After a temporary display at the Arlington Museum of Art, the quilt will become a permanent City Hall exhibit near the Executive Offices.

The project reflects the Guild’s longstanding commitment to Arlington. Founded in 1984, the organization has supported Ronald McDonald House, Project Linus, Snowball Express, veterans hospitals, senior centers, and Safe Haven of Tarrant County through handmade quilts and donations. In 2025, the Guild expanded its outreach through partnerships with Tarrant County Habitat for Humanity and Sleep in Heavenly Peace, providing quilts to new homeowners and children receiving beds. Through “Stitching Our History Together,” the Guild has created more than an anniversary keepsake. It is a lasting portrait of Arlington, stitched together by the hands of the people who call it home.
