For small business owners, each day is full of excitement and opportunities. In the third quarter of 2017, small businesses in Arlington and the rest of the DFW Metroplex saw a 24 percent increase in sales! Entrepreneurs have the freedom to set their own goals and schedules as they grow their businesses, but they’ll face challenges in their work as well. The Arlington Public Library is here to support local entrepreneurs as they learn and grow with free networking events, workshops and digital resources.
The Small Business Network is the Library’s networking series for local entrepreneurs. Each month, small business owners enjoy a free workshop in a different Arlington location. Local experts present on topics ranging from marketing to customer service to building operations. Attendees can network with other local business owners to learn from each other’s experience.
Upcoming Small Business Network meetings include Social Media for Your Small Business on January 16; Building Business Relationships on January 24; Improve Business Communications on February 28; and How to Support Your Customer on March 21.
The Library knows that opening a small business is a major decision, one that not everyone is ready to take. Explore your options in home childcare with How to Start a Daycare Business on January 29. A trainer from the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System will share the ins and outs of starting your own daycare business. This workshop is free but registration is required, so sign up now.
Computer and technology skills are a must for small business owners. Brush up on computer skills or learn to use new programs at the Library’s free computer classes. These classes offer something for a range of skills, from complete beginners to advanced Excel users. All classes are free but require registration.
