ARLINGTON, Texas – June 1, 2026 – Texas Trust Credit Union Gives Foundation, the charitable arm of Texas Trust Credit Union, recently completed a multi-week food drive and volunteer initiative that provided nearly 50,000 meals to five regional food banks.

In addition to the hands-on service, the foundation raised $8,000 through an employee giving campaign, which was donated directly to the participating food banks to further support their local hunger relief efforts. While the distribution amounts varied based on the specific needs of each organization, every dollar went straight toward strengthening the communities these food banks serve.

The campaign focused on addressing food insecurity in the period leading into summer, when many families –especially those with children – face heightened challenges due to the end of school meal programs.

The drive supported the North Texas Food Bank, Mission Arlington, Tarrant Area Food Bank, Concho Valley Food Bank, and Henderson County Food Pantry. The timing of the drive was intentional, addressing a period when non-profits often face scarcity as holiday-season donations dwindle.

“Most organizations focus their giving around the winter holidays, but the need for nutritious food is constant year-round,” said Washima Huq, Executive Director of the Texas Trust Gives Foundation. “Our employees stepped up to ensure families, especially children, have reliable access to meals as they head into the summer months when school programs pause. We’re proud to support these vital nonprofits during a time when resources can be scarce, and we’re grateful for the dedication of our team members.”

The impact of the initiative was felt immediately across the region. At the North Texas Food Bank, foundation volunteers helped package 37,125 meals, while the monetary donation it received provided enough food to feed 18,000 families. The Tarrant Area Food Bank utilized its financial donation to provide 10,000 meals. In total, the drive delivered 1,286 canned fruits, meats, and vegetables; 2,292 grain items including cereal and pasta; and 1,391 high-need staples such as peanut butter and oil, which was shared across all the food banks.

Mission Arlington reported that the contribution was one of the largest in-kind donations the organization has ever received. The volume of food was so substantial that volunteers worked throughout the week to stock the pantry shelves.

“Mission Arlington is incredibly grateful to Texas Trust employees for their generosity,” said Tillie Burgin, executive director of Mission Arlington. “Their food drive became one of our largest donations and will help feed families throughout our community. We are also thankful for the volunteers who gave their time to unload the truck and fully stock our pantry, making an immediate impact for those we serve.”
