What’s the secret to earning the honor

of best emergency room in Arlington? A committed team that is invested in the care of people in critical need. Medical Center Arlington is honored to be recognized as the outstanding emergency room in the Arlington area because of its remarkable team, which is ready to treat emergencies from Level III trauma cases to a child’s broken arm.

“It takes a special type of healthcare professional to want to work in the ER,” says Charles Phillips, MD, medical director of MCA’s emergency department, where more than 70 percent of the hospital’s patients first enter the facility. “You have to enjoy mental challenges and medical decision-making because you never know what kind of accident or illness will come in to challenge you mentally and medically.”

As a designated Level III trauma center,

MCA adheres to strict regulations that ensure the highest quality of procedures, staffing and processes are in place 24-7 to best care for the most serious injuries, from gunshot wounds to head injuries to complex fractures to automobile accidents. As part of this designation, trauma surgeons, as well as other physician specialists, are required to be available 24 hours a day.

HCA North Texas, the parent company of Medical Center Arlington, has invested in the emergency needs of the community by adding more beds to allow ER physicians and nurses to care for a growing number of patients. This fall, the hospital will also debut a pediatric entrance and dedicated rooms for children who often require special equipment and care. Roughly 30-percent of MCA’s emergency patients are children.

Sarah Riley, Emergency Department director at MCA says:

“Arlington is a growing community and the hospital is growing along with it. We have needed a pediatric emergency room in this area so parents don’t have to drive 15 to 20 miles with a seriously sick or injured child to reach an emergency room. When our renovated emergency room opens with a separate pediatric emergency entrance, we will have unique and specialized equipment to treat children, as well as a highly trained staff dedicated to helping kids.”

Dr. Phillips adds:

“From urgent care centers, including CareNow, to the full-service ER at Grand Prairie and the busy hospital emergency department at Medical Center Arlington,”  “we invest in the highest caliber residency-trained and board-certified professionals who are committed to emergency medicine.”

The powerful combination of that highly trained medical team and commitment to community care will ensure that Medical Center Arlington will remain the hospital of choice in this growing area.
