UT Arlington Aerospace Engineering major Austen Smith took home her second medal in as many days, this time silver, on Monday in mixed team skeet shooting with her coach and teammate Vincent Hancock in the 2024 Paris Olympics at the Chateauroux Shooting Center.
Smith and Hancock came up just one target short, falling 45-44 to Italy’s Diana Bacosi and Gabriele Rossetti on Monday in the final. This marked the Olympic debut for the mixed team skeet shooting event. A full breakdown of Monday’s results from the gold medal match can be seen here.
The Keller, Texas, native also won a bronze medal on Sunday in the women’s skeet shooting event, and leaves Paris with a pair of medals.
“I am elated. I am over the moon and loving every moment of it,” said Smith of her bronze medal performance on Sunday. “Just to have an Olympic medal is my dream.”
