Martin, TCU Grad Jaden Oberkrom’s Kicking Academy Helping Students Dream Big

Jaden Oberkrom, the Big 12 Conference’s all-time leader in field goals made, is helping students pursue their dream of kicking at the next level right here in The American Dream City.
Oberkrom, who graduated from AISD’s Martin High School and went on to have a successful career at TCU, turned down a job in the NFL to open Oberkrom Kicking Academy in Arlington.
“My agent called me and he said the Cleveland Browns are going to call you in 10 minutes. Work out your travel plans and they’ll fly you out tonight,” Oberkrom said. “My odds were pretty good to make it and I said no. People say, you turned down half a million dollars to start a business with zero clients. But looking back on it, the peace I had after I made that decision, you can’t describe it.”
Oberkrom’s Kicking Academy opened in June 2016 and offers private lessons on a weekly basis teaching drill work and techniques to middle and high school kickers from across the DFW Metroplex.
The Martin High School grad nailed a 60-yard field goal as a Warrior and went on to become the all-time scoring leader for both the Big 12 Conference and TCU. He was named a 2015 All-American as a senior. However, despite all of the accolades, his true passion remains with his kicking academy.
“Living the American Dream to me is doing something you love every day,” Oberkrom said. “I have a 100 percent success rate so far with my seniors getting college offers, which is pretty neat because it changes their lives. It’s a dream come true.”
